The Path Venus Makes in the Sky When Viewed from Earth
Did you know Venus is currently the brightest it will be in the evening sky before it begins a new 19 month cycle?
Venus is currently at maximum brightness until it goes retrograde on March 1, 2025. It will then decrease in brightness and height after sunset until it disappears from the sky completely on March 16, 2025. It will be so close to the sun it will not be visible until March 29, 2025, this time as the morning star. She will remain retrograde until April 12, 2025.
Venus is the planet of relationships, beauty, elegance, embodiment, harmony, feeling, desire, sensuality, love, material enjoyment, receptivity, gratitude, balance, and is often related to art, dance and music.
She is the second closest planet to the sun in our solar system. Her orbit around the sun creates a 5 petaled rose from the perspective of Earth. A full rose cycle takes 8 years to complete, during which there are periods where she is retrograde and direct, as well as periods where she is visible and non-visible.
These phases have a direct impact on us here on Earth...
Venus began a new 8-year cycle in June 2020. It takes 19 months for Venus to complete a full cycle, and this happens 5 times over an 8 year period to create a five-petaled rose in the sky from Earth's perspective. We are now completing the third petal on the rose, a 19-month journey that is about to finish this March. What magic!
Venus will be visible in the Western sky at sunset until March 15, when her placement becomes too close to the sun to continue being visible. From March 16 until March 29, 2025 she will be hidden from view, journeying through the underworld like the Sumerian goddess Inanna, the goddess of love, beauty, fertility, war, and wisdom. Venus will be so close to the sun that we won't be able to see (or feel) her as strongly.
This is a powerful time of initiation, a time to create a more solid foundation within ourselves, to come back to our practices and allow all that is not serving our highest alignment to be shed.
When Venus is retrograde, it's actually the closest it can be to Earth, and we may feel her effects more strongly during this time. However, while Venus crosses the sun, (March 22) Venus is considered "combust" within 1 degree of the sun, and she is going through a death/rebirth and renewal. (Be kind to yourselves and trust any challenges with relationship at this time will be impermanent)
On March 29, 2025 Venus will rebirth as the morning star. My feeling is this will be a time of abundance and grace, receiving the gifts of wisdom and power, the way we all do after moving through a transformation.
March will be a powerful time to reflect:
What initiations am I moving through?
What is transitioning in my life now?
How am I changing and growing?
What is working in my relationships?
What patterns am I ready to release?
What am I taking with me?
What am I leaving behind?
